Dr Abdalla is the first multiple laser dentist and instructor in New Zealand. He is an international speaker, author and educator in the fields of laser dentistry, minimal intervention, high-tech, CAD/CAM and cosmetic dentistry. He is an invited Associate Professor at the University of Cagliari in Italy and an affiliate member of the American Dental Association. He is the NZ course provider and examiner for The Queensland University Laser Certification program, by Professor L. Walsh.
Dr Hisham is a Fellow & Diplomate of the World Congress of Minimally Invasive Dentistry and had served as a directors board member of the organization in the USA. He is a Founding member of the nZ Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, Founding member & past VP of the nZ Institute of Minimal Intervention Dentistry & Fellow of the World Clinical Laser Institute.
Dr Hisham practices dentistry and runs live courses for dental professionals from all over the world, at his Professional Development Centre at the Laser LifeCare Institute in Auckland. He graduated with honors from Charles University in Prague in 1998 as a Doctor of Dental Medicine.

Dr Brostek has spent over 25 years in private general practice, and is a Senior Clinical Lecturer in operative Dentistry at OHCWA Dental School in Perth, Western Australia.
An early dissatisfaction with the results of g.V. black traditional dentistry led him to utilise aesthetic and minimal restorations and he became interested in erbium lasers to remove dental caries.
He has trained many dentists in Er:YAG laser use, been published in dental journals, and lectured in numerous countries.

Dr Cernavin is a honorary Senior Fellow University of Melbourne School of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences, Director and cofounder of the Asia Pacific Institute of Dental education and research (AIDer), Australian representative of World Federation of Laser Dentistry (WFLD). Dr Cernavin graduated as a general dentist from Adelaide University, spent approximately 20 years in general practice in Adelaide, London and Melbourne, then completed a Master’s Degree in prosthodontics at Melbourne University and has been practicing as a specialist prosthodontist for almost 20 years in private practice. He has also spent approximately 20 years teaching at Melbourne University in the undergraduate clinics as well as conductingcontinuing education courses for graduate dentists in Australia and overseas, covering topics such as restorative dentistry, prosthodontics, implant dentistry, lasers in dentistry, air abrasion and matters pertaining to dental defence. He has been the chairman of the ADA (Victorian branch) dental defence committee for more than ten years.
As his thesis for the Master’s program Dr Cernavin examined the effects of the Nd:YAG laser on the dental pulp, being the first dentist in Australia to formally study the effects of lasers in dentistry. He was an inaugural member of the International Society of Lasers in Dentistry (the precursor to the WFLD) and has been the Australian representative since its inception to the present day. Dr Cernavin has made numerous presentations on Lasers in Dentistry at ISLD/WFLD meetings as well as lecturing on the topics of lasers in dentistry in Australia and overseas. He is the author of a number of peer reviewed and non per reviewed publications on topics pertaining to Lasers in dentistry, prosthodontics, implants and defence matters. He is also a consultant to rejuvedent LLC, an American based dental laser research company.

Dr Chan graduated from the University of Sydney with a bachelor of Dental Surgery with Honors in 1983. He has been working in private practice since 1984 and has been actively involved in clinical Laser dental practices, research and teaching since 1990.
He published a Master research Thesis on “Laser induced analgesia and Laser uses in Dentistry” (1997); First discovered the use of erbium laser to treat “Dentinal Hypersensitivity” (report in 2000). He collaborated with three Australian Universities (Australian national, Macquarie and Swinburne) to pioneer dental research on Femtoseconds Laser (Published 2003). He has conducted Laser education courses and been invited as a speaker in dental laser conferences nationally and internationally since 2000.
He is the representative for the Australian Dental Association on Lasers (since 2004), Committee Member, Standards Australia on Medical Lasers (since 2004), Recognized Standard Laser Proficiency Course Provider, Academy of Laser Dentistry (since 2000), Treasurer, Asian Pacific Division, the World Federation for Laser Dentistry (since 2006), The Vice- President, Australian Association for Laser Dentistry (since 2009); Peer- reviewer, Journal of America Academy of general Dentistry, Australian Dental research Foundation and Journal of Laser in Medical Science and research Collaborator-neuroscience, nerve research Foundation, brain and Mind research institute, University of Sydney in 2010.
He was awarded the Mastership by the Academy of Laser Dentistry in 2009 and won the Best Oral Scientific Presentation Award in the 2010 Dubai-World Federation for Laser Dentistry Congress.

Assoc. Prof. Sattayut graduated with a Doctor of Dental Surgery (First Class Honors) at the khon kaen University in 1993, she received specialist training on Laser use in oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the London Hospital Medical College between 1995- 1998. She was awarded the Doctor of Philosophy in oral and maxillofacial surgery by London University in 1998 and has been appointed the Associate Professorship in oral Surgery, Faculty of Dentistry, khon kaen University since 2003. She was also elected to be the Member of the University Council, khon kaen University since 2008.
Assoc. Prof. Sattayut specialises in research and clinical practice on soft tissue laser surgery technique for oral tissue correction in the maxillofacial regions and on Lower Intensity Laser Therapy for orofacial pain control. In addition to her busy academic practice, she was invited as the Secretary of the Centre of Lasers in Dentistry as well as the President of the Thailand Society for Laser Dentistry and the Secretary for the WFLD-Asia Pacific Division (2010 to 2012).

Prof. Laurence Walsh has held a personal chair in dental science at the University of Queensland since 1999, and has been the Head of the UQ School of Dentistry in brisbane, Australia since 2004. Laurence is a founding member of the UQ Centre for biophotonics and Laser Sciences, and is the program leader for the advanced technologies in health care research program. He has been using lasers in his clinical practice for over 20 years, and has lectured internationally on both clinical and basic science aspects of laser dentistry.
Laurence founded a widely used laser training program, and he has authored numerous publications in laser dentistry based on his clinical specialist practice and his research work.

Assoc. Prof. Lee Collins is Director of the Medical Physics Department at Westmead Hospital, Sydney, Australia. His main interests are in ionising and non-ionising radiation safety and radiology physics. He is Chairman of the Standards Australia medical laser safety committee, and a member of the International electrotechnical Commission committee TC76 (laser safety). He was made a Member of the order of Australia in 2003, and is an Adjunct Associate Professor in the School of Medical radiation Science at the University of Sydney, and Conjoint Associate Professor in the Schools of Medicine, University of Western Sydney and Notre Dame Australia University.

Dr Cox is the Founding President of the Australian Society for Laser Dentistry. David holds clinical academic titles at both the University of Sydney and at the University of Queensland. He runs a large dental practice in brisbane, where he has been treating patients with lasers since 1999. David has been at the forefront of laser dentistry education in Australia, having served as a clinical preceptor for many general practitioners during their introduction to lasers, both in Australia and overseas.

Former Dean, Faculty of Dentistry, national University of Singapore Senior Consultant, national University Health System, Singapore Former President, World Federation for Laser Dentistry (WFLD) Chairman, Asia Pacific Division, WFLD.
Graduated in 1972 and worked more than 35 years in national University of Singapore as an oral and maxillofacial surgeon. Started laser applications since 1986, and was involved in WFLD since its inception in 1988.

Dr Johnston graduated with his bDSc from the University of Western Australia in 1989. He practiced in general dentistry for two years before moving to Melbourne to complete his Masters Degree in Paediatric Dentistry from the University of Melbourne. Following graduation, he obtained his Fellowship in the royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons in 1996.
Dr Johnston holds appointments as Consultant Paediatric Dentist at The Princess Margaret Hospital for Children, visiting lecturer at The University of Western Australia and Lectures both nationally and internationally. He has held advisory positions within the Australian Dental Association, royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons and the Australian Breastfeeding Association and the Western Australian Presidency of the Australian and new Zealand Society of Paediatric Dentistry. Dr Johnston has been in Specialist Paediatric Dentistry since 1994 and was awarded a Fellow of the Academy of Dentistry International in recognition of his voluntary work overseas.
Dr Johnston’s interest in dental lasers and minimal intervention dentistry started six years ago and since has obtained extensive experience in their use in paediatric dentistry. He has lectured nationally and internationally and contributed to textbooks on this subject.

Dr Martin graduate of Queensland University 1970 was always intrigued by the ever developing electronic/computerised Dentistry that prevails today. He has always been an early adopter of technology at his own financial peril and prefers to be in on the ground floor. Actively using lasers of all frequencies and modes since 1985, Dr Martin was one of the first to use a soft laser for ulcers etc. He spent seven years in the navy before an 11 year stint on Lake Macquarie.
He now calls burnie Tasmania home, employing two other dentists in two busy offices called Winning Smiles Dental Care Centres. He enjoys introducing others to the laser world and encourages whenever possible for Dentists to step out of the box. In his private life he likes to travel and go bushwalking, having just returned from Mt Kilimanjaro and last week from the 6 day Overland Cradle Mt Walk.

Dr Nagai received his DDS from the osaka Dental University, Japan in 1987. He studied at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine Department of operative Dentistry as a Clinical Fellow from 1989 to 1992. During that period, he had practiced clinical dentistry at the Massachusetts Veterans Administration Medical Center in 1990, and the Massachusetts general Hospital Department of Maxillofacial and oral Surgery in 1991.
He is the founder and a board member of the Japan Society for Dental Anti-Aging, a board member of the Japanese Society for Laser Dentistry, a board member of the Japanese Academy of Colour for Dentistry, a board member of Asia and Pacific division of the World Federation for Laser Dentistry, a committee member of the Japan Academy of esthetic Dentistry, a committee member of the Japan Association of Microscopic Dentistry, a committee member and an educator status of the Academy of Laser Dentistry, a vice president and a chief instructor of the Japanese division of the Academy of Laser Dentistry, an adviser and chief Instructor of the Japan erbium Dental Laser Academy. He is also a member of the International Society for oral Laser Applications, Japan Society for Laser Surgery and Medicine, and Academy of Microscope enhanced Dentistry.
Dr nagai has published and lectured about operative Dentistry, Adhesive Dentistry, esthetic Dentistry, Laser Dentistry, and Microscope Dentistry. He has maintained a full-time practice in Tokyo. Recently Dr nagai was awarded the 2010 ALD’s Clinician award.

Assoc Prof. Watanabe graduated with the degree of Doctor of Dental Surgeon (DDS) from the Faculty of Dentistry, Tokyo Medical and Dental University in 1977 and was awarded a PhD degree from the graduate School of Tokyo Medical and Dental University, in 1981. Appointed Associate Professor of the Periodontology, Department of Periodontology by the Faculty of Dentistry, Tokyo Medical and Dental University, in March 1992 to March 2000 and the Department of Hard Tissue engineering by the graduate School, Tokyo Medical and Dental University in April 2000-Present.
In the last decade he has been actively involved in teaching, research and clinical applications of laser in Periodontics and Periodontal Surgery and authored and co-author of numerous published laser-related articles, on Periodontology. A career highlight was to receive the golden Award in the “Basic Research” category, at the 10th WFLD International Congress, Berlin 2006.

Prof. Yoshida graduated with DDS from the Achi-gakuin University, School of Dentistry, nagoya, Japan in 1981 and awarded PhD. by the Aichi-gakuin University in 1998. Since 2001, he has received the full Professorship of the oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department, from the University of Aichi-gakuin.
Since 1992 he has been actively involving in teaching and research in the field of Laser Dentistry, as well as playing important administrative role in major Laser-related organisations. These includes, the Council member for Japanese Society for Laser Dentistry (1992-present) and the Japanese Society of Laser Surgery and Medicine (1998-present); the editor in chief of editorial board for JSLD (2005-2008). recently he was elected as the President of JSLD (2009), the President-elect of 31stw Annual Scientific Meeting of Japanese Society of Laser Surgery and Medicine (2010) and the General Secretary of the World Federation for Laser Dentistry (2010-2012).
